Tarte Shape Tape is probably the most cited concealer of the last decade. It has a genuine merit: opaque coverage in a single layer, which very few formulas manage. It also has a real problem — the price, which sits around thirty dollars for ten millilitres.
What you're actually copying
Most comparisons pick the wrong criterion. Nobody is looking for a concealer that covers: nearly all of them cover. You're looking for one that covers without settling, meaning without gathering in the crease under the eye after four hours. That's where most formulas fail, and it's precisely what Tarte solved.
The second particularity is the applicator. Shape Tape's wide doe-foot deposits a lot of product at once, which pushes you to use too much. A good share of people disappointed by their dupe actually reproduced that gesture with a runnier formula that can't take it.

Catrice Liquid Camouflage is the specialist. Five millilitres only, but a formidable pigment load that covers a red blemish or a scar where others need three coats. Under the eye, though, you need a very light hand.
